Reveal Wins Shine School Media Awards
Reveal received the Best Magazine award in the national Shine School Media Awards presented at Stationers’ Hall in London. Judges commended Reveal, the Pate’s student magazine, as a fantastic all-rounder, a well designed magazine with a smart, informative mix of topics.
Charlton (Yr 10) also received the Editor of the Year award. Judges particularly praised Charlton’s great leadership.
Reveal was Highly Commended in the Best Printed Publication award, as a highly professional publication with seamless design, print and production that creates a compelling, engaging read.
The magazine was also Highly Commended for Best Business and Marketing Strategy. It was cited as a strong entry with a clear community focus.
Charlton, together with Deputy Editors Alfie (Yr 10) and Harriet (Yr 12), received the awards at a gala lunch at Stationers’ Hall in London, attended by leading national journalists from print and screen media, together with representatives from the printing and publishing industry. They will be invited to a day of work experience at a national magazine as part of their prize. Charlton will also have the opportunity to spend a day with the editor of a national newspaper.
The competition from student magazines and newspapers from across the country was exceptionally strong, with the judges saying they were of the highest standard that they have seen.
The annual awards are organised by the Stationers’ Company, which was established as a guild over 600 years ago. It received its Royal Charter in 1557 and the company register recorded the original copyright of publications.
Pate's Headteacher Dr James Richardson said,
"Well done to Charlton, Alfie and Harriet, and all who contribute to Reveal. It is wonderful to have such a dedicated team with a brilliant publication in school. Thank you and congratulations."
